Haircuts

So it was that time again, actually we were WAY over due for haircuts at our house. Sierra wanted to grow her hair long but has realized that it is a lot of work to keep long hair "pretty" especially when the weather goes humid on you. She mentioned about how she liked her hair long but it keeps getting frizzy. So I made an appointment with the girl that cuts my hair to fix everyone up.

BEFORE...
Cody's hair is not too bad...

As you can see - Sierra and Bandit need a new hair style.

Creed's hair is so cute longer and curly but it is just so dang hot right now. You also have to "fix" it every morning or else he has a huge hairy head.

Cameron as you can see is not happy with his longer hair..it is starting to come around his face and take over. Cameron has curls? Okay he just didn't like me taking his photo at that moment.

AFTER...
Okay - so Cody doesn't have a new haircut yet...his hair does not require any "fancy" hair styles like the others. Just give him a buzz and he is happy (which is coming soon) and it is free.

Sierra & Cameron. Sierra kept asking if we thought she looked older, like a 20 year old. What?

Creed - oh Creed. He wanted a mowhawk which he didn't really get. The hair stylist was nice enough to fix his hair like this. He was so proud of it, he asked if she could dye it red on the ends too...oh dear!

Sierra's Basketball Camp

Sierra attended her fist basketball camp a week ago. She really enjoyed it. She won first place in the Hot Shot competition and was runner up in the Free Throw shoot off.

5K Ice Cream Social - Berryville, AR

It was almost an entire family event minus two. Barry, Cameron, Sierra and myself signed up to run the Berryville Ice Cream Social 5K race on June 13. Barry has been running with Sierra and this was her second 5K. I am so proud of her for taking on the challenge.
Official results:
Cameron: 2nd in his age group, 4th over all male time: 20:34 (his goal is to break a 20 before school starts - looks to me he is going to make it.)

Sierra: 2nd in her age group, 35th overall female with a time of 31:00 (she took 1 and a half off of her last 5K race)

Myself: 2nd in my age group, 6th overall female with a time of 22:44 (I really want to run a 21 - we shall see how my body holds up to that idea)

Barry: He does not count...he is Sierra's pace manager and coach - he ran with her until the very end when she took of with this crazy kid kick - which is admits that he didn't want to try and keep up with after 3 miles.)

Sorry no photos...I forgot the camera....

Goodbye Kuma

KUMA (Translation: Bear)
Winter 2002 - June 9, 2009

Kuma was a Christmas present for Cameron in 2003.  He had wanted a dog so we chose a Chesapeake Bay Ret. for him.  We had put a deposit down to hold a puppy before Christmas and shortly after Christmas Cameron and I went to go pick out a pup.  As we looked through the litter one puppy seemed to really like Cameron - he kept jumping on him every time he squatted down to look at the other puppies.  So we took that puppy home that picked us.  We had purchased a small kennel to haul him in for the 2 hr ride back home.  He cried and yelped and jumped on the side of the kennel until we could not take it anymore...he rode home in Cameron's lap.

Kuma was a funny dog full of life, a strong will and drool (we didn't know Chessies drooled.)
He loved the water like no other and would swim in the middle of winter to fetch a stick.  When you read the breed description about them being able to with stand the coldest of water... well it is a true.  Kuma was a very loyal companion and loved to chase (harass) Cameron on his bike, 4 wheeler or on foot.

We are sad and shocked by his sudden death.  We loved Kuma very much and will miss him a lot. We hope he enjoys his new dog adventures where he is now.
Good dog.

May '09 Utah Visit

Back in October when I visited my Grandfather and went to my friends wedding in Utah I said I would be back in the spring.  So on May 15th I returned.  What a great trip!  I went to my nephew's 4 year old birthday party, ran a 1/2 marathon and attended our annual family Memorial Day get together.   I was sad to leave (27th) but I missed my family in Arkansas.

Thanks Mom, Grandpa and Jennifer for a great visit.  I miss and love you all very much.

Jennifer, my sister, who throws great theme birthday parties.  This one was crazy organized and the kids had a fun time.

The big 4.

Grandpa Astle & cousin Tiffany.

We headed up to the cemetery on Saturday to put flowers on the sites.

A father and his two sons.

Heather trying to get a photo with Parker - Addy wanted to get in on the shoot.

The big race... Jennifer (sister) & I trained for 12 weeks and the day had finally arrived. (Some how Jennifer's idea of us running became reality - how she talked me into I don't know..hmm?)
I was a nervous wreck - it started two days before the race when we went to pick up
our race packets.  What is up with that?  I felt like I was at a high school track meet all over again.

Race results: Amy - 2:00:49  Jennifer: 2:02:? Our goal was to do it in 2 hrs so I don't count that :49... If I do another one I will want to break 2.

Trying to show the back of our race shirts... when do you think they will make women's sizes?
I guess we have to run in an all women race...darn.

Memorial Day Party... bring your own meat and a side to share...

Memorial Days are hard work...sometimes you just have to take a nap.

Addy, are you looking at the camera and is that a smile?

The Ninja Game

It is hard to believe that Andrea and I are "grown-ups" - what happened to the days of
barbies and pretending we were going out with Bo and Luke Duke?

Michael pulled a hammy racing the kids, but he won - and that is what really matters.

Grandpa Astle was given a flag, he is a WWII vet. - but he is not dead.

Practicing?

The cemetery where Grandma Astle's mom is buried.
As a kid this was one of my favorite to visit because of the headstones (upright) & the age of
some of the headstones.   There are a lot of people that were born in the late 1800's.

You can't go up town for Memorial Day and not stop at the Iceberg for a thick shake!

Jennifer and her butterfinger mini shake- they are NOT mini.
I had a red raspberry - YUM!

THE END....
